Frederick A. Jodzio, 76, passed away December 8, 2018 at The Peaks Care Center in Longmont.

Fred was born October 18, 1942 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Anthony and Jean (Szymanski) Jodzio. He grew up and attended school in Jersey City. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Due to a medical issue, Fred was honorably discharged after just a few short months in the service.

Fred returned to Jersey City where he met and married Meredith A. Vassallo on May 15, 1965. They moved to Longmont in October of 1979 from Bayonne, New Jersey.

Fred worked a long career as a warehouseman. In New Jersey, he worked for ACME and APEX trucking companies. After moving to Longmont, he was employed by Ball Aerospace, Golden Van Lines and the Geological Society of America. Fred retired in 2000.

He was a member of the Catholic Church.

Fred enjoyed various hobbies including woodworking, leather crafts, glass etching as well as camping and gardening. He loved his home where he had planted and cared for several pine trees and flowering cactus. Fred loved the mountains and especially drives to Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road. His many pets were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Steven Jodzio.

Fred is survived by his wife Meredith, two daughters Karen Jodzio and Diane Jodzio-Willson and husband Dave and grandson Elliott.

A celebration of Fred’s life will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the Longmont Humane Society. Share condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com.
