Edward George Vleming, 80, of Longmont passed away at his home July 10, 2018. Ed was born October 21, 1937 in Poughkeepsie, New York to Richard and Antionette (Mancini) Vleming. He grew up in Poughkeepsie and attended and graduated school there.
Ed served in the United States Army for two years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1965, he met Katharine Williams and they were married on July 25, 1965 in New York. Later that same year, they moved to Colorado when he transferred with IBM, where Ed worked as a lab specialist for over 32 years.
He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 32 and enjoyed spending time at Beaver Lake with his friends from the legion.
Ed loved hiking, camping, golfing, woodworking, RC airplanes and boats, and guns. But he was most fond of bass fishing and listening to oldies music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Vleming, two sons, Mark and Edward “Eddie” Vleming, and his beloved wife Kathy. Ed is survived by his daughter, Laura (Lonny) Lawson of Longmont, CO, two sisters, Gert (Ben) Fiorino and Joan (Bernie) Halter, sister-in-law, Keiko Vleming and two granddaughters, Nina and Nadia Lawson.
