Patty Befus of Hygiene, Colorado died in Longmont, Colorado on January 20, 2018 at the age of 84. Patty graduated from Mead High School in 1951. She was a stay-at-home mom to three children.
She married Reuben Befus in 1951 at Peace Lutheran Church in Longmont. Patty and her family have been members of Christ Congregational Church since 1957.
Patty, Reuben and their children lived on the family farm east of Longmont. In 1980, they sold it and bought land in Hygiene, building a brand new house that she was so thankful for.
A job she enjoyed, that was more of a hobby, was selling Avon. She would drive a sweet little Triumph convertible Spitfire around the Rinn Valley area, taking her wares and her smiles to other farm wives. When the kids were grown, she did bookkeeping for Herdman Electric and a Credit Bureau in Longmont. She also kept books for her husband, who built 150 homes in Longmont.
She is survived by children, Paul (Colleen) Befus, Jerry Befus and Donna Bruce; her brother, Buddy and sister-in-law, Fern Lang, Her sisters-in-law, Ruby Butler, Kathy Befus and Alice Befus; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Reuben, mother, Bonnie Ruth Lang and father, Joseph Patrick Lang.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on January 25th at Christ Congregational Church, 1240 Francis St. in Longmont, Colorado with Pastor Steve Osborn officiating. Viewing will be prior to the service at the church.
