Agnes Karen Bruun Evans born October 30, 1930 to George Theodore and Bertha (Servenak) Bruun in Pittsburgh, PA suddenly passed away on Friday, July 14th, 2017. Agnes was a lifelong resident of the Pittsburgh area growing up in and near Regent Square. She graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and obtained her Bachelors and Masters degrees in early childhood education from the University of Pittsburgh. She taught public school in both Philadelphia and as a substitute teacher in the Mount Lebanon elementary schools. She is preceded in death by both of her parents, an older sister Helen Elizabeth Miller, and an older brother George Theodore Bruun Jr. She is survived by her 4 sons: John and Cyndi Evans of Pittsburgh, Michael and Stacey Evans of Lexington, MA, Richard and Denise Evans of Charlotte, NC, Daniel and Karen Evans of Tigard, OR and her daughter Kathryn and Dan Griffee of Mead, CO as well as; 7 grandchildren: Karen Evans, David Evans, Brian Evans, Dee Dee Evans, William Evans, John Evans, and Erin Griffee; and nieces, Margaret (Peggy) Schuckers, Mary Lou Miller Wagstaff, Christina Bruun-Horrigan, and Lisa Bruun-Seibold, Besides her love of teaching, Agnes was an active member at Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for most of her adult life. After her retirement, she returned to favorite hobbies such as bowling, flower gardening, and the daily crossword puzzle. She also enjoyed volunteering her time with many organizations including 29 years at Asbury Heights in Mount Lebanon. Memorial contributions may be made to Sunset Hills United Presbyterian Church in Mount Lebanon.
